Martin has cycled and walked every road and trail in the Conwy Valley. Betsy has run them twice. The area is full of dog-friendly paths, quiet lanes and open hillside — these are their favourites, properly recorded and mapped.
Two of the three routes start at the estate gate. The third starts at Trefriw village, a short walk down the hill. All are circular, all are accessible year-round (in proper boots), and all return you in time for the hot tub.
A scenic valley loop from Trefriw along the River Conwy to the famous Ugly House (Tŷ Hyll) — one of Wales's oldest and most distinctive stone cottages, now a café. Perfect for lunch before returning through woodland.
From the estate gate, the route climbs through woodland and the Crafnant valley to Llyn Crafnant — a quiet glacial lake ringed by mountains. The loop returns via a different path. Circular, and you're home for tea. One of the best half-days in the Conwy Valley.
From the estate gate, the route climbs through open moorland to the rocky ridge of Crimpiau. On a clear day the view back down the valley frames the four cottages exactly as you see them in the photo — the estate on the hillside, the valley stretching north to the coast.
